My baby is growing! And this picture may look ordinary, but let me tell you: this is something that took 2 and a half yeas to happen.

Lilla is a clingy baby. I think I've wrote this here several times. Ever since she was a newborn, she wouldn't sleep unless she was nursing and being held. And don't get me wrong, it wasn't nursing and rocking to fall asleep, it was nursing and rocking to stay asleep. All.sleep.long. Even for a high need baby, I've never heard of another baby like her.
Once in a while I would try again to put her in her crib (or on a bed, or on a mattress, or on the floor. You name it, I've tryed it). EVERY time she would just open her eyes wide open. Awake. She would't go back to sleep no matter what I've tryed. A wasted nap. And a wasted nap meant a grumpy baby for the rest of the day. Sigh.

Her naps used to be long... Up to 3h long. And sure there were times when I thought I would freak out. And once in a while I feared she would never be able to sleep on her own. But, in the bottom of my heart, I believed that she has her own time to grown, and I wanted to respect that.

My peace is my motherly GPS. And I was never in peace with "cry-it-out" methods. I didn't want her to fear, I didn't want her to feel lonely, I didn't want her to go to sleep crying... I just wanted her to be happy, and safe, and peacefull and calm. And if it depended on me nursing and holding her, so be it. No strings atatched. No martyr feelings.
(and as there is always some one to whine, please don't get me wrong: no, we don't think bad of families who use "cry it out", and no, we don't find ourselves better than anyone. This is just our own way of parenting. The one that is right for us.)

My heart told me that if I have a Father who loves me so much, and who never (EVER!) denies me cuddles when I feel I need them, why should I?
Just like our Father teaches us to be obedient out of love and total freedom, we want to teach Lilla the same way. Never in fear, never in lonelyness, never because she just has to.

Co-sleep became a must (and a happiness, may I say) for our family. And nap time... well, I've learned to enjoy it our own way. Time goes by so fast. She'll stay this tiny for so little time. She's so soft, and warm, and cuddly...

And now that she is growing, I couldn't be happier with the wonderful person she is becoming! As I always dreamed, she is an incredible little girl, empathic, nurturing, obedient an happy! She is so different from what I thought she would be. She is almost nothing as I was in her age. Nor like Rodrigo. She is kindda like my brother: energic, intense.

She draws attention wherever she goes, she's talkative, she makes friends easily. She talks to EVERYONE, but she hates it when someone she doesn't know tries to hold her hand or pick her up. She will soundly disagree.
She cleans her cheeks from my kisses (she claims I give "slobbery kisses!), but she'll ask for kisses when she wants them. She will kiss us abundatly if she is the one who wants to, but denies her kisses ferociously when she is not in the mood.

She surprises me with her wide vocabulary and her inteligence. She is full of life and jumpy energy. She is restless like I never was. She overflows with love and is radiantly beautiful! And now, almost all of her babyness is gone. She is pure little girl. No more diapers, no more rocking to stay asleep. She'll soon start pre-school... But she still nurses. So she is still -technically- my baby. Well, I hear that for mommys, no matter how big their babies grow, they will allways be their babies in a way or another...

Bonecas Waldorf / Waldorf dolls

------------------------
It all started as a wish to make a Mei doll for Lilla's chirstmas gift. I asked a friend of mine who is good with crochet to make 2 Totoros to go along:

-----------------------------
Aren't those Totoros just perfect? My friend is the best! I'm in love with our Totoros.
The doll came together thanks to this perfect pattern I found via Pinterest (love you, Pinterest!). Saddly, I just couldn't find the wool bating, so I ended up stuffing her with good old polyfiber... The rest is all natural: the skin is cotton knit and the hair is wool yarn.

O processo é bem trabalhoso, vários dias pra ficar pronta, quase tudo costura manual.
-------------------------------------
The doll is really time consuming and requires a whole lot of hand stitching. It takes me several days to finish it. But the end result is so cute! Mei also got new clothes, icluding a mermaid costume (mermaids are the hit of the moment here in our house):

E segundo porque o a Mei ficou grandinha (uns 55cm), dificil pra lilla levar pra rua, e eu precisava testar um molde diminuído.
----------------------------------------
Thing is I kinda got addicted to this doll making stuff. Dolls wouldn't stop to pop on my sewing tabble. First because I found out how to make the button nose, and had to try it. Second because Mei is big (more than 20 inches) and hard to take along in field trips. So I had to try something smaller.

Ela adora tirar a fralda e limpar o bumbum dele... (o chapéu fiz seguindo essas dicas)
-----------------------------
So Baby was born. He is brunette and his name is Baby. I tryed to name him Miguel but Lilla insisted his name was Baby. So Baby it is! Lilla favorite thing about Baby is that he has a diaper just like the ones she used to wear. She loves taking the diaper out and cleaning Baby's butt, just like a good mommy should. (Baby's bonnet was made following this tutorial)

E como eu disse, não consegui parar... Eu disse que viciei! Então surgiu a Anna. Moreninha como o Miguel!
------------------------------------
As I told you, I just couldn't stop myself... So Anna was born!

-------------------------------------------
Just like Baby she is a brunette cutey and measures about 14 inches. But Anna won't be Lilla's. She is going to make another girl a happy mommy: She is at my shop waiting for her new family! And she will come with an extra set of clothes.

------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the 3 of them: Baby is about 8 inches, Anna 14 inches and Mei 20 inches. And there is still another one to come... A friend of mine wanted to learn ho to make a doll too, so she is coming for some sew along sessions... She is making her first one and I'm making my forth... just to keep her company! They will be Anna's size and both blondies because I've found just the right color of yarn....

Well, this was the first time I've made something repeatedly like this. And still haven't had enough of it!
