Quem não gosta de ver como as bonecas são por dentro?

Eu tenho, nos momentos extras, trabalhado em duas bonecas novas, essas pras minhas meninas. Essa da foto é a "Guéca", boneca da caçula. Se chama assim pois é como ela mesma chama as bonecas. Na Guéca estou testando novas técnicas, então ela, além do "soft sculpting", tem também "needle felting".

Who doesn't like WIP doll pictures? I sure do!
I've been working in two new dollies on my free time. Both are gifts for my girls. This one in the pictures is Guéca (That's how my baby says 'doll' -boneca in portuguese).
Guéca is sporting my new trials: soft sculpting plus needle felting.

Aqui a Guéca quase pronta! O molde de mini bebê foi revisado, e está mais fofinho ainda! Falta roupas e fraldinha. Minha bebê amante de bonecas adorou sua filhinha de pano. Eu prometo trazer mais fotos assim que ela estiver vestida adequadamente ^^

Here is Guéca, all chubby and cute. I revised my mini baby pattern and it's looking even more sweet! Still missing her clothes. My baby daughter loved her birthday gift! I'l bring more photos as soon as she is all dressed up!

Feliz Páscoa! - Happy Easter!

Nós comemoramos a Páscoa com muitas atividades por aqui. Contei a história da Páscoa várias vezes pra Lilla essa semana. Mas ontem contei de novo, foi a contação "oficial", com figuras das que eu uso nas aulas da igreja (figuras que, aliás, foram desenhadas pela minha amada vovó, que eu tenho TANTA saudade!). E nós fizemos um Jardim da Ressurreição, que desde a Páscoa do ano passado eu tinha visto no Pinterest e estava doida pra reproduzir!

Derramamos os botões vermelhinhos nos pés da cruz para representar o Sangue que Jesus derramou por nós. Brincamos de abrir e fechar o túmulo vazio. Agora o nosso Jardim está todo lindo, enfeitando a nossa sala!

We've celebrated Easter with lots of diferent crafts around here. I've told Lilla Easter's Story many times during this past week. But yesterday was the "official" story telling, with the big pictures I use at Sunday School (which, by the way, were drawn by my beloved grandma whom I miss so much!)
We made the Ressurection Garden I waited one year to make, as last year I came across it on Pinterest just after Easter was over...

We've placed the red buttons by the cross to represent the blood Jesus shed for us. We played with the tomb's rock, opening it to find it empty, like the women who came to look for Jesus's body. Now our beautiful garden is sitting on our living room, reminding us of the true meaning of Easter...

Nós depois encenamos em família as principais partes da história. Fizemos um lava pés, enquanto falávamos sobre o que é ser humilde, cuidar das pessoas com amor, estar pronto pra ajudar, e nunca se sentir maior do que os outros, se Jesus, que era realmente o maior, se encolheu até ser um Homem, capaz de lavar pés... o Homem Jesus que morreu no nosso lugar, para que pudéssemos nascer de novo, com a vida de Cristo em nós!
Humildade é um conceito difícil de explicar pra uma criança de 3 anos, no auge da fase "eu-eu-eu"... Fiquei  catando palavras, e não sei bem o quanto ela entendeu. Mas sei que é uma lição de interior, pra ser entendida aos poucos, muito mais pelos exemplos que damos a ela do que pelas palavras que dizemos.

Than we acted some of the most important parts of the story. We've washed each others feet like Jesus did, while we talked about what being humble means. I've found the concept a little hard to explain to a toddler, but we talked about how nobody is greater than anybody, and that we should always be ready to give love and help everyone. And how Jesus, being truly Greater, being the Lord, didn't mind to be on His knees, washing his friends' feet. Jesus Christ, Son of God, made Himself small enough to be a Man and to die in our place...

Such big things to explain to a little kid... I don't know how much of it she understood, but I guess it's the kind of thing she'll learn more from examples than from what we say to her... Meanwhile we'll keep telling, and keep showing, with all our love.

Também encenamos uma ceia. A Lilla partiu o pão e o "vinho" (água com uvas dentro). "Esse é o corpo de Jesus, esse é o sangue de Jesus", ela lembrou direitinho da ceia que tomamos na igreja também!

We also pretended the Last Supper. Lilla broke the bread and shared the "wine" (water with grapes in it). "This is Jesus's body, this is Jesus's blood", she remembered quite well  from the times we've celebrated in our church.

Teve também um "desenho mágico". Pra ela pintar com aquarela, mas ali em baixo, com giz de cera branco, desenhei as pegadas e Jesus, saindo vivo do túmulo! Quando começou a pintar, e o giz de cera repeliu a água, o desenho apareceu!

There was also a "magic panting". I've made the drawing of the empty thomb for her to paint with watercolors. On the bottom of the page I made a figure of Jesus with white crayon. You couldn't tell by looking at the paper, but as long as the paint came and the wax repelled the water, the figure of Jesus appeared! He's alive!

E por último, lembramos que Jesus é o Verdadeiro Cordeiro de Deus, que morreu por nós! E nós, com a vida de Cristo, somos ovelhinhas do Senhor! Fizemos uma ovelhinha pra cada um da família com pedaços de papelão, pregadores de roupa e lã branquinha. Tirei a idéia daqui.
Lilla curtiu as ovelhinhas, quis levar com a gente pro almoço, tá adorando brincar com elas!
Ano que vem, quero começar a preparação da Páscoa bem antes, contar sobre a Páscoa dos judeus e sobre toda simbologia que apontava pra Jesus...

And last, we remeberd how Jesus was called the True Lamb of God, who died for us. And we, who died with Jesus and have His life in us, are little lambs of God too! We've made a little sheep for each one of us (the idea came from here) using pegs, cardboard and white wool.
Lilla really enjoyed the sheep, and has been playing with them all along.
Next year I plan to start earlier and talk about the jew's easter and introduce her to all the simbols that talked about Jesus as God's people were taken from Egypt...

Uma Páscoa feliz!! A Páscoa é o meu feriado preferido. É o mais importante para nós, Cristãos. É o epicentro da nossa salvação... Por isso por aqui optamos por comemorar o que a Páscoa significa. Ela vê coelhinhos da páscoa, sabe o que é também, mas não liga muito... Isso não exclui comer chocolate, se tivermos vontade. Mas como ela não vê TV aberta, e na escolinha eles não comemoram "datas comerciais" fica bem mais fácil levar as coisas do nosso jeitinho. Dando valor ao que é importante pra gente, de todo nosso coração!

Feliz Páscoa para todos, com muito amor! Jesus, nosso Senhor, obrigada pelo Seu Amor tão IMENSO! Obrigada por ter tomado nosso lugar. Obrigado por ter nos incluído na Sua morte, obrigada pela morte do nosso velho eu e pela Sua Vida em nós!! TE AMAMOS!

Happy Easter to all!! This is my favorite Holiday. The most important one for us Christians. The epicenter of our salvation... That's why we chose to celebrate what Easter means. Lilla does see easter bunnies around, she knows what they are, she just doesn't care that much... We do eat chocolate if we want to. But as she doesn't whatch open TV and her school doesnt celebrate "comercial holidays", it's easy to take her down the path that is important to our family. Treasuring what is important in our hearts!

Happy Easter everyone, with all our love! Jesus, our Lord, thank you for you tremendous love! Thank you for taking our place. Thank you for including us in your death, so we could recieve your Life! WE LOVE YOU!!

Artes de Páscoa / Easter crafts

Hoje nós tivemos uma perfeita sexta-feira de Páscoa! Rodrigo me surpreendeu com uma folga inesperada (pra minha tristeza saudadosa, ele sempre trabalha nos feriados) e então pudemos ficar juntinhos hoje! Eu resolvi me dar feriado também. Tenho trabalhado tanto nos últimos dias, hoje mereciamos esse tempinho pra nós, pra comemorar a Páscoa em família. Então eu separei coisas que tinhamos em casa para uma atividade de Páscoa. Vocês querem nos acompanhar?

Este foi o material que usei:
-folha grande de papel na qual eu desenhei uma cruz
-palitos de sorvete
-um coração que cortei em feltro
-tinta vermelha/rosa
-1 batata cortada em formato de coração
-cola

Começamos falando sobre a Páscoa, peguei meu material das aulas da Escolinha Dominical para contar de novo a história para a Lilla (tenho contado e recontado a história a semana toda). Falei sobre a ceia (por isso o pãozinho e as uvas nos potinhos), sobre a crucificação e a ressurreição. E depois partimos para a nossa arte de páscoa!

Eu passei cola na cruz e todos nós juntos fomos colando nela os palitinhos. "A cruz era de madeira, muito pesada!" Eu lembrava à Lilla as partes da história enquanto colávamos.

Today we enjoyed a perfect Easter Friday! Rodrigo surprised me with a day off from work (he always works on holidays, and I miss him so much) and we stayed all together. Happy! I gave myself a day off from work too. I've been working so much these last days, today we all deserved a family-only day.
So I went through the house sorting craft material so we could make some Easter activities. Do you want to craft along?


This is what I used:
-a big sheet of paper, wher I've drawn a large cross
-popsicle sticks
-a heart cutted out of felt
-red/pink gouache
-1 potato carved into heart stamps
-glue


We started talking about what is the Easter. I grabbed my Sunday school supplies and retold Lilla the wonderful story we are celebrating today (I've been telling her the story every day, all week long). I talked about the last supper (that's why you can see some bread and grapes inside the cups on the picture above), about the cross and about how Christ risen from the dead. Than we started our activity!


I've putted glue inside the cross drawing, so we could use the sticks to build the cross. "The cross was made of wood, and was very heavy" -I would tell her parts of the story as we glued the sticks.

Quando a cruz ficou prontinha, eu passei cola bem no meio e entreguei à Lilla o coração de feltro. "Esse coração representa o amor de Jesus por nós. Foi porque Ele nos amou TANTO, que Ele morreu no nosso lugar!"

A Lilla colou o grande coração vermelho lá no meio da cruz.

"Quando Jesus morreu, Ele nos atraiu a morrer com Ele! Assim, quem crê em Jesus morre com Ele na cruz. Nossa velha natureza morre e é substituída pela vida de Cristo!"

Aí nós pegamos os carimbos de coração e molhamos na tinta, fazendo vários coraçõezinhos sendo atraídos para a cruz...

When we were done with the sticks, I handed Lilla the big felt heart. "This heart represents Jesus's love for us. It was because of His BIG big love that he died in our place!"


Lilla glued the heart on the middle of the cross.


"When Jesus died, He attracted us to die with Him! So, all of us who believe in Jesus, died with Him on that cross. Our old nature died, now we have a new life: Christ's life!!"


We grabbed the potato stamps to make the hearts being attracted to the cross.

A atividade foi super proveitosa, serviu direitinho para ilustrarmos a Páscoa! Lilla adorou. E eu adorei mais ainda. Ela prestou uma atenção... É incrível como uma mente tão pequenininha consegue apreender uma idéia tão grandiosa com seu coraçãozinho puro de criança!

The activity was really fun and usefull. It worked perfectelly as an Easter illustration. Lilla loved it. And I loved even more. Lilla paid such close attention. It's amazing to see how such a tiny little kid can understand such a grand idea! Oh, the pure hearts of the children... So pretty, so beatiful, so special!

Depois fizemos ainda outra atividade, baseada numa que vi no Pinterest.

Eu contei à Lilla como na Bíblia Jesus é chamado de cordeiro de Deus. E nós, com a vida de Jesus no nosso coração, somos então ovelhinhas também. Expliquei que somos ovelhinhas muito amadas, e o Senhor é o nosso maravilhoso Pastor!

Nós pintamos nossas mãos com tinha e carimbamos numa folha verde. Depois colamos pedacinhos de algodão para formar a lã das ovelhinhas:

Than we've made something else. This was an idea I've spotted at Pinterest.

I told Lilla about how the Bible calls Jesus the True Lamb of God. And that we, with Jesus Christ's life in us, are little lambs too. Beloved little lambs, with the Lord as our Sheperd!

We've painted our hands and made hand prints on a green sheet of paper, than we've glued some cotton pieces to look like the lambs' fur:

Ovelha papai, ovelha mamãe, ovelha Lilla. Uma família feliz de ovelhinhas de Jesus!

Feliz Páscoa para todos, o nosso Senhor Amado Jesus transborde de amor nos seus corações!

Mais bonecas! / More dolls!

A família continua crescendo! Mas dessa vez foi culpa desta duplinha, encomendada por uma mamãe:

The family keeps on growing!
But this time, it was specifically this two girl's fault:

 Uma chapéuzinho e uma vovó, foi o que ela pediu. E eu quis criar a chapeuzinho mais fofa e a vovózinha mais doce que eu fosse capaz. Elas ainda estão sem roupinha, pois eu estava esperando chegarem pelo correio os paninhos especiais que a mamãe dona das bonecas comprou especialmente para a ocasião.
Junto delas, nasceram também outras bonequinhas, pois eu queria fazer um teste, que deu certo: Se se tem que fazer uma boneca, deve-se fazer várias, em série. Ao mesmo tempo é mais proveitoso.

Assim nasceu a Alissa, que já está disponível na lojinha, corre lá! Alissajá foi adotada, e está indo pra sua nova mamãe na segunda.

A Little Red and a Grandma doll. A sweet lady custom ordered them for her daughter. And I've set my mind on creating the most cute Little Red and the most sweet granny I could. They are still naked gals because I was waiting for some special fabric to arrive from the mail so I could make their clothes. Along with this girls, others were born, because I wanted to test something, and this was what I've found out: it is easier to make dolls in a row. If I have to make one, is better to make more. I take at least 4 to 5 days to complete one doll like this, but if I make others together, I can acomplish 4 dolls in up to 7 days. It is hard work, but totally worth it!


So, there came Alissa. She is for sale on the shop now, go and check her out! Alissa was already adopted and is going to her new mama on monday.

E o Felipe, numa tentativa de fazer um bebê com características certinhas do corpo. Ele é um menininho, pois a Lilla quis assim! O molde ainda está em teste, mas assim que eu acertar as coisinhas que deram errado no processo, faço um destes pra botar na lojinha também!

And Felipe was my atempt on making a baby like doll, with ten fingers and ten toes. He is a little boy, 'cause Lilla requested so. His pattern is still being tested, as I've hit some bumps on the road with this one. But as soon as I have it all figured out, I'll make on of this available at the shop too.

Já a Camila, eu terminei há um tempo atrás, quando estava ensinando uma amiga a fazer bonecas também. E ela, como se vê pela foto, já está bem encardidinha... Porque ela virou a preferida da Lilla! Tem ido conosco pra rua todo dia. Pro mercado, pra pracinha, pra passear de bicicleta... Dorme junto, é amassada, girada, usada como travasseiro... E aí a Camila está já mostrando marcas de todo esse amor. O que, na verdade me deixa bem feliz. Pois enquanto isso a Lilla vai aprendendo a cuidar de uma bonequinha que é companheira mas delicada, precisa de amor mas de gentileza também.

Eu também aprendi com a Camila. Ela foi minha tutora de cabelos: experimentando nela eu consegui descobrir um bom jeito de prender cada fio de lã à cabeça, de forma segura pra ficar sempre ajeitadinho!

And Camila was ready long before. I made her while teaching a friend of mine how to make a waldorf doll. You can see she has some "love marks". And she is kinda dirty. That's because she turned out to be Lilla's favorite doll ever. She comes along in our trips to the park, visits to the grocery store, bike rides... She often sleeps with her too, she is grabed, twisted, used as a pillow... Camila may be a little crooked now, but that makes me happy. She is well loved! I bet she is happy herself, too. 
Meanwhile, Lilla is learning about being gentle with her toys, because Camila is sturdy, but delicate. 


It warms my heart to see Lilla playing so lovingly with a toy I've made her with all my love!


I've learned a lot from Camila myself too. She was my test drive in doll hair sewing. I've sewed her hair string by string to her head. I did it worng  and tryed it again several times until I was pleased with the results.

Bonecas Waldorf / Waldorf dolls

Tudo começou com a vontade de fazer pra Lilla uma Mei de presente de natal. Pedi a um amiga crocheteira de mão cheia para fazer totorinhos pra acompanhar:

It all started as a wish to make a Mei doll for Lilla's chirstmas gift. I asked a friend of mine who is good with crochet to make 2 Totoros to go along:

Estes Totoros não ficaram perfeitos? Eu cai de amores por eles!
A boneca saiu graças a este tutorial perfeito que achei via pinterest (eu te amo, Pinterest!). Eu só ainda não consegui um fornecedor de lã penteada pra rechear e tive que encher com fibra siliconada mesmo, mas de resto é tudo fibra natural: a pele é de malha de algodão e o cabelinho de lã de carneiro.

Aren't those Totoros just perfect? My friend is the best! I'm in love with our Totoros.
The doll came together thanks to this perfect pattern I found via Pinterest (love you, Pinterest!). Saddly, I just couldn't find the wool bating, so I ended up stuffing her with good old polyfiber... The rest is all natural: the skin is cotton knit and the hair is wool yarn.

O processo é bem trabalhoso, vários dias pra ficar pronta, quase tudo costura manual. Mas o resultado é tão fofo! A Mei acabou ganhando também umas roupas novas, e anda vestida quase sempre de sereia, a mania do momento aqui em casa:

The doll is really time consuming and requires a whole lot of hand stitching. It takes me several days to finish it. But the end result is so cute! Mei also got new clothes, icluding a mermaid costume (mermaids are the hit of the moment here in our house):

O negócio é que isso vicia de tal forma que bonecas começaram a proliferar na minha mesa de costura...
Primeiro porque fiquei curiosa pra testar a dica que descobri sobre como fazer o nariz! E segundo porque o a Mei ficou grandinha (uns 55cm), dificil pra lilla levar pra rua, e eu precisava testar um molde diminuído.

Thing is I kinda got addicted to this doll making stuff. Dolls wouldn't stop to pop on my sewing tabble. First because I found out how to make the button nose, and had to try it. Second because Mei is big (more than 20 inches) and hard to take along in field trips. So I had to try something smaller. 

E aí surgiu esse bebê moreninho! Ele se chama Bebê, porque a Lilla quis assim. Eu tinha batizado ele de Miguel, mas a Lilla insiste que não, ele se chama Bebê! A parte preferida da Lilla é que ele tem uma fraldinha igualzinha à que ela usava. Ela adora tirar a fralda e limpar o bumbum dele... (o chapéu fiz seguindo essas dicas)

So Baby was born. He is brunette and his name is Baby. I tryed to name him Miguel but Lilla insisted his name was Baby. So Baby it is! Lilla favorite thing about Baby is that he has a diaper just like the ones she used to wear. She loves taking the diaper out and cleaning Baby's butt, just like a good mommy should. (Baby's bonnet was made following this tutorial)

E como eu disse, não consegui parar... Eu disse que viciei! Então surgiu a Anna. Moreninha como o Miguel!

As I told you, I just couldn't stop myself... So Anna was born!

Só que a Anna não é da Lilla, ela vai fazer alguma outra menininha uma mamãe feliz! A Anna está na minha lojinha, aguardando sua nova família. Quem a quiser, vai levar junto uma muda extra de roupinha, pra brincar de vestir:

Just like Baby she is a brunette cutey and measures about 14 inches. But Anna won't be Lilla's. She is going to make another girl a happy mommy: She is at my shop waiting for her new family! And she will come with an extra set of clothes.

Aqui os 3 pra comparar: o Bebê tem uns 20cm, a Anna uns 35cm e a Mei por volta de 50cm. E eu tenho ainda uma terceira cria quase pronta pra nascer... Porque uma amiga minha queria que eu a ensinasse a fazer e é claro, nenhum modo melhor do que fazermos juntas, né? Então estamos fazendo cada qual uma bonequinha do tamanho da Anna. Loirinha dessa vez!

Acho que essa é a primeira vez que eu costuro algo em série assim. E ainda não to com vontade de parar!

Here are the 3 of them: Baby is about 8 inches, Anna 14 inches and Mei 20 inches. And there is still another one to come... A friend of mine wanted to learn ho to make a doll too, so she is coming for some sew along sessions... She is making her first one and I'm making my forth... just to keep her company! They will be Anna's size and both blondies because I've found just the right color of yarn....


Well, this was the first time I've made something repeatedly like this. And still haven't had enough of it!

 Eu sei, eu sei, eu andei quietinha por aqui. Eu não sou uma pessoa muito organizada, sabe. É, infelizmente. Uma meleca. Quando eu tenho uma coisa grande pra fazer, fico sem conseguir dar atenção às coisas menores. I know, I know, It's been quiet around here these last days. Unfortunatelly, I'm not quite an organized person, you know. And when a bigger task hits me, the smaller ones suffer.
