San Francisco - Take 9

Última parte dos posts sobre a viagem! Bem a tempo de dar continuação quando recebermos a mamãe de visita aqui em casa: Ela chega no domingo, e passará Dezembro conosco! Eba!

Bom, no dia que visitamos a Golden Gate a temperatura estava a típica de San Francisco: neblina e vento friiiio!
Primeiro nós fomos apreciar a vista da orla e fazer um lanchinho. Lá a Lilla adorou andar nas pedras da praia. Ficamos por ali, preguiçando e tirando fotos por um bom tempo. E convencendo a Lilla que não, não dava pra mergulhar na água da praia!

Well, the day we visited Golden Gate bridge was a typical San Francisco weather: foggy and freaking cold.
First we went to see the view from the bay and have snack. Lilla enjoyed walking on the big stones. We stood there, being lazy, for a good hour. Lilla had to be convinced there was no way for her to take a dive in the freezing water...

Depois fomos de carro até o iniciozinho da ponte. Nossa ideia inicial era andar até a metade, mas o vento lá estava impeditivo: muito forte, bem gelado. Então andamos só um pedacinho mesmo...

Than we took the car to the edge of the bridge so we could walk in it a little bit. Just a little bit, because the wind was crazy cold (well, give us a break, we are cariocas and our "cold winter" here is like 68ºF)

Repararam na Lilla toda empacotada no carrinho? Ela não deu conta de andar na ponte não!! To dizendo, vento GELADO!

Depois de andar na famosa ponte vermelhinha, voltamos aos carros e fomos até uma cidadezinha próxima chamada Sausalito. Uma cidade na orla, muito fofa, com cara de local de veraneio, caminhamos bastante, almoçamos uns hamburgueres gigantes e eu fiz na festa numa lojinha fofa cheeeeeia de coisas geeks e japas pra comprar!

Did you notice Lilla all bundled up in her stroller? She couldn't endure the wind on the bridge. Icy cold, I'm telling ya!

After our walk on the bridge, we took the cars again to cross it to Sausalito.  A pretty city with a wonderful view to the bay, all sumery looking. We took a walk, had lunch, and I spent a few dollars on a cute kawaii store filled with geek little things I don't need but I had to have! (always like that with japanese stuff)

E foi isso!
Essa viagem foi feita muito mais pela companhia da minha mãe do que pra conhecer a cidade. O nosso objetivo inicial era dar as boas vindas pro meu irmãozinho, mas Deus tinha outros planos e foi preciso muita oração, fé e certeza para que as tristezas se transformassem em alegria.
Nós pegamos leve nos passeios, respeitamos os horários da pequena, e tivemos realmente uma experiência maravilhosa.

Talvez não tenhamos visto alguns pontos turísticos muito importantes, já que ao invés disso fizemos rodizio de parquinhos!
Mas nosso saldo foi uma menininha com então quase 3 anos muito muito feliz em sua primeira viagem. Respeitamos a rotina dela e a sua capacidade de aguentar os passeios menos infantis, e de quebra tivemos o retorno dela: numero zero de manhas, humor nota mil!

Nossas impressões da cidade, em geral, foram muito boas. E se eu tivesse que citar um ponto negativo certamente seria o Bart (sitema de transporte de lá) e seu elevadores "cheirosos".

Agora San Francisco nos aguarde, pois se Deus quiser de vez em quando estaremos por lá, passando de novo uns dias com a minha mamãe lindona!
Saudade aqui bate forte. Mal posso esperar pelo domingo de manhã, para buscarmos ela no aeroporto para mais uma temporada gostosa de família unida!

And that's it!
This was a trip focused on spending time as a family. At first we thought we'd be meeting my baby brother, but as God had other plans it took lots and lots of praying, believing and trusting to turn sadness into happiness. A change only faith can promote.
We took it slow, we respected Lilla's daily routine, and had a wonderful experience.

Maybe we've missed some important turistic places to visit, but we sure didn't miss any nice parks around! And as a result we had a very happy toddler enjoying her first trip. Our respect towards her gaves us a terrific feedback: no tantrums to deal with.

San Francisco and its surrondings is a beautiful place indeed. If I had to point a down side to it, would be the Bart's smelly elevators. Besides that, everything was just perfect. And if God allows us to, we'll be back there soon enough.
I miss my mom so much, and I'm thrilled that she is coming here! She'll arrive next Sunday for another wonderful family time together. We wish this week goes by really fast. Until Sunday! 

San Francisco - Take 8

Eu já disse por aqui que gosto muito de zoológicos. Geralmente, quando viajamos, procuro o Zoo da cidade pra visitar. Quando estávamos lá em San francisco, o Zoo mais perto era o Oakland Zoo. Separamos um dia pra passear por lá e foi muito legal. O zoológico é perfeito pra crianças menores também, por ele não é grande demais. Deu pra andarmos tudo sem cansar. Era muito bem cuidado e limpinho e alguns animais dava pra vermos bem de perto!

I've said here before: I love going to Zoos. Usually, wherever we go, we try to visit the local Zoo. While in SF, the nearest one was Oakland Zoo. We spent almost a whole day there and it was wonderful. The Zoo is really neat, clean and tidy. The animals looked helathy and happy. And it's size is just perfect for toddlers: we were able to see everything without getting too tired.

Parece incrível, mas tivemos muitos dias de sol, e esse foi um dos mais gostosos! Céu claro, temperatura amena... Acho que Deus fez o Sol aparecer diariamente na nublada São francisco especialmente pra nós! ^^

Who could believe the amount of sunny days we got while in (usually) gray and foggy San Francisco Bay Area? God blessed us with Sun almost everyday! ^^

Tivemos companhia da Sandra e do Lucas. A Sandra é brasileira mas casada com americano. E o Lucas é filho deles. Ela é amiga da minha mamãe e foi uma delícia conhecê-la também!

We had with us my mom's friends Sandra and Lucas. Sandra is brazilian too, married with an american just like my mom. Lucas is their son. I loved meeting them!

Sempre fico encantada com a estrutura bacana para crianças que encontramos por aí a fora. Ia adorar ter uns parques parecidos e um Zoo tão gostoso por aqui. Um dos lugares que visitamos e me deixou enlouquecida foi um parque fechado chamado Habitot. Se eu fosse rica e tivesse grana pra investir, juro que abria um Habitot por aqui.

One of the things that amazed me on this trip was the amount of possibilyties for people with kids. So many outdoor parks, indoor parks, museums... I whish we had only half of those here in Rio. One of the places I liked the best was Habitot. If I was rich, I'd sure open a Habitot here!

Pra começar a idéia em si já é legal:
Eles têm vários ambientes, cada um com um tema. Tinha a área de água, com mesa de água, lava a jato praqueles carrinhos little tikes, bombas d'água manuais, mini chafariz. Tinha área de mercado, com um mini mercadinho, cheio de produtors, comidas de brinquedo, carrinhos iguais aos de verdade, caixa, dinheirinho. Tinha uma área de bebês, cheia de brinquedos sensoriais. Tinha a área de artes (onde a Lilla passou grande parte do tempo lá) com tintas, argila, papeis, quadros. Tinha mesas de trem, tinha um mini castelo, tinha área de maquiagens e fantasias...

The concept itself is already cool enough:
Lots of different environments for the kids to choose and play. They had a Water Area, with a big waer table, a kid size car wash for those little tikes cars, a water fountain, lots of water toys. A Market Area, filled with play food, plastic groceries, shopping carts, a checkout place with play money. They had an Art Studio, with everything a Studio should have: paints, crayons, paper, canvases, clay... (it was where Lilla spent most of her time). They had train tables with a real Bart map and a Baby Area with sensory toys... 

  ...e tinha uma área de espaço sideral! Com um foguete pra entrar mesmo, todo de material reciclado!

... and they even had a life size rocket and a "nasa table", all made with recicled materials! So cool!

A gente pagava um preço pra entrar e podia ficar o quanto quisesse. Não era um parque daquele tipo que vemos mais por aqui, cheio de monitores. As crianças precisavam da companhia de um responsável. Eu achei INCRÍVEL! Fiquei doidinha mesmo, queria muito um desses aqui no Rio!

We payed a fee to get in, but we could stay inside for as long as we wanted. Here in Brazil there are indoor parks usually inside of malls, they have a staff for recreation and the parents can leave the child there while they shop. This was not this kind of park. They had no monitors and every child should have a grown up with her.
I soooooooooo wanted a place like this here in Rio!!
If you ever go to SF Bay Area with toddlers, I totally recomend taking time to visit Habitot!

San Francisco - Take 7

(este é um post bem aleatório, um picadinho de coisas da viagem!)

Uma das coisas que realmente curto nas terras gringas são as Bibliotecas. Todas as cidades têm boas bibliotecas, com programas para as crianças toda semana. Nós levamos a Lilla na Biblioteca de Berkeley para um "playtime" e ela curtiu muitão. Lemos muitas historinhas juntas também.

One of the things I enjoy the most when we go to the US is the Library system. They are so well organized and there's always some kind of kid's schedules available. we took Lilla to a Public Library ate Berkeley for some playtime. She played with the other kids and than we've read some stories together.

Também em Berkeley visitamos esse parque chamado Totland. Ao meu ver, de todos os parques da região, esse foi o mais adequado à crianças da faixa etária da Lilla. Super bacana, com muitas áreas a serem exploradas, boa areia, área molhada e um detalhe inusitado: As pessoas dos arredores levam pra esse parque brinquedos usados dos próprios filhos e deixam lá, Então tem uma profusão de bicicletinhas, carrinhos, patinetes e outros brinquedos menores. Sucesso garantido!

Also in Berkeley, we visited the Totland Park. The most perfect playground for toddlers. So nice! It has grass and sand, lots of trees, and an unusual detail: people leave there pre-loved toys they don't want anymore. So the park is filled with bikes, ride-ons, cars, etc... Really funny!

Lilla explorou cada cantinho, mexeu na areia, encheu caminhões. Mas a parte favorita mesmo foi quando ela encontrou a água. Tive que improvisar, porque eu não tinha levado biquini...

Lilla explored every corner, had a blast on the soft sand, filled some trucks, climbed to her heart's content. But her favorite part was the wayer table and its surroundings. I had to improvise, because I hadn't brought a  swim suit for her...

  
Claro, o que começa com "mãe, posso molhar o pé?" termina com uma criança só de calcinha fazendo farra na lama...

What starts with "mommy, can I get my feet wet?" sure ends with a kid in underwear splashing in the muddy water!

 Ah......... Ikea! Essa é "A" loja que me dá vontade de trazer todinhazinha pra casa. Ainda mais com a reforma da nossa casa nova, uma perdição.

Oh, Ikea, I love you! This is "THE" store I wish I could just bring everything in there with me. Specially when I have a whole new home to furnish...

O Dolores parque foi ma dica ótima da Karen. Ele foi o maior parque que visitamos. Lá no centrãzão de SF. Muito engraçado, pq tinha toda cara de bairro de vanguarda: gente tomando banho de sol de topless na grama, muito cabelos coloridos pro deleite da Lilla, mais jovens com jeitão de universitários do que famílias com crianças circulando.

Dolores Park was a fabulous tip Karen gave me. It was in the heart of SF and was the biggest playground we've visited. The neighbourhood was funny because it was sure a "cool" area. Lots of young people looking like college students with gougeous pink ou blue hair, to Lilla's delight. She would spot a pink hair from far, and insist that I should have my hair coloured pink too.Yes, not her, me.
(I really should show her my colleg photos, when I really did have had pink hair)

Esse foi o parquinho mais radical, pois contava com um super-mega-ultra escorregão. Lilla que, quando se trata de alturas, de medrosa não tem nada repetiu até dizer chega o escorrega gigante. Verdade seja dita, eu fui também e era muito legal!

It was the most extreme park, because it featured a gigantic enormous really big slide. Lilla, whos is not one to be affraid of heighs, went down the super slide over and over again. Thruth be told, I went down the slide too, It was awesome!
